The Position
This class series encompasses positions that perform a broad range of professional and technical work involving but not limited to: cultural/natural resource assessment, programming, funding, evaluation, survey, inventory, preservation, research, education, planning, mitigation and recovery.
The position manages the Nevada Arts Council's Grants Program, which provides grants to nonprofit organizations, schools, public institutions, artists, educators and administrators throughout the state. The incumbent oversees grants management procedures, the electronic grant application system, and grants application and review processes. Specific responsibilities include: development of training workshops and webinars on grant-writing and use of the online grants system; provide technical assistance to existing grantees and potential applicants, prepare program policy recommendations; monitor grantees for compliance with state and federal regulations through evaluation and on-site visits; coordinate grant review panels; write articles and publications; assess the needs of the field through research; and tracking and reporting activities associated with grant-making. The incumbent communicates with regional and national organizations, supervises, and participates in agency-wide activities to fulfill the agency's mission, including conferences, board meetings, constituent professional development activities and strategic planning. Grants coordinator is the Arts Council ADA/504 Administrator, as required by the National Endowment for the Arts, and assists organizations with ADA understanding and compliance. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in studio art, dance, theater, photography, folklife, communications, architecture, English, creative writing or related field and one year of professional level experience which involved general arts administration, management of an arts program, folklore studies, or comparable experience in a public or non-profit setting; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of professional experience relevant to the position which involved working with a non-profit arts or cultural organization, a public arts or cultural agency, or comparable experience in a public or non-profit setting; managing and administrating arts programs and grants; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Cultural/Natural Resource Specialist I in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    Positions in this series may require specialized education and experience which will be identified at the time of recruitment.

    Grants management experience is required.
