Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Program Integrity Surveillance and Utilization Review (SUR) Unit is seeking to hire a Management Analyst 2 for the Carson City office. This position will split time between performing detailed review and analysis of Medicaid claims data and billing practices to identify and evaluate suspected cases of fraud, abuse, waste and completing recovery activities for SUR, Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) and other audit recoveries. Other duties include compiling and keeping detailed case records; entering and extracting information from databases; creating analytical reports; preparing accurate and grammatically correct letters and reports; debt collection, recoupment and recovery; accounts receivable reporting and Medicaid provider negative balance monitoring and reporting. Based upon findings, this position pursues appropriate administrative actions which may include provider education, recoupment of overpayments, or a referral to the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for criminal investigation. This position makes recommendations to management based on findings to enhance the prevention and detection of fraud, waste, abuse and improper payments. Recommended changes may include improvements to the agency's policies and procedures and/or modification to the claims-processing system.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and two years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
Special Notes
Without the required Bachelor's degree this position would require 6 years of experience, 2 years of paraprofessional experience and 4 years that were at the professional level performing research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
