Biologists conduct fisheries, wildlife and/or habitat management projects and research studies including data collection, analysis and interpretation; develop and implement project proposals and work plans; prepare recommendations; and participate in public relations activities.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This is a supervisory position in the Habitat Division, Eastern Region, providing supervision, guidance and direction for the mining program and technical guidance program in the Region. The technical guidance program involves development of wildlife inputs into land-use planning at Federal, State, couunty and local levels. The mining program implements NRS 502.390 plus NAC 502.460 through 502.495. Persons under the direction of this position implement Artificial Pond permitting, site compliance visits and input into mining operations to minimize impacts to wildlife and provide inputs into site reclamation. Provides agency review of NEPA, State Clearinghouse and other projects for the Eastern Region and interfaces with other agencies.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, wildlife management or closely related field and four years of professional experience in wildlife, fisheries or habitat management; OR one year of experience as a Biologist III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions in remote and/or primitive locations. |

Working on occasional nights and/or weekends may be required. |
|
Statewide travel and outdoor work is required. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
