The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
This position is the Department of Public Safety's Computer-Aided Dispatch / Records Management System (CAD/RMS) program manager and system super-user. The position works in conjunction with the CAD/RMS contracted employee and the State Geographic Information Systems Administrator to ensure the CAD/RMS system is operational 24x7 for the Department's users. With general administrative oversight, the position reviews, recommends, and writes policies and procedures associated with the Department's CAD/RMS; prepares, writes and presents reports as requested; plans, organizes and conducts user meetings and user training; and coordinates CAD/RMS software and hardware installation and implementation with the contracted vendor and the State Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division. The position maintains CAD/RMS security by adding, modifying, and deleting users; adjusting user privileges; and configuring login parameters and tailoring users' login scripts. The position maintains the CAD/RMS code tables, audits system usage, attends CAD/RMS vendor-sponsored training, protects super-user access, defines data entry standards, maintains narrative and text outlines, establishes incident reporting methods, and suggests enhancements to the CAD/RMS. The position also serves as the division's Assistant Terminal Agency Coordinator (ATAC) to ensure that the division's CAD/RMS users are complying with the administrative and security policies of the Nevada Criminal Justice Information System and the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Crime Information System.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited college or university in public administration or related field and two years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program: OR two years experience as a Program Officer II in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and six years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
The Examination

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
