The Position
Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Boulder City, NV and may include working weekend and holidays. The selected incumbent must maintain a valid State of Nevada driver's license and attend the State of Nevada defensive driving course and recertification every four years. Duties includes pruning trees as needed; removing dead or dying branches injured by disease, insect infestation, animals, storms or mechanical damage; removing branches with weak crotches, branches that obscure vision, or are in the way of mowing/trimming equipment; spraying grounds with herbicides; fertilizing turf, plants, and trees; and performing weed, rodent, insect, and disease control to maintain the appropriate appearance of the grounds. Duties also include clearing walkways and roadways of plant materials and other debris to ensure a safe environment and overall cleanliness; clearing all valve boxes for easy identification. along with master valves for both domestic and raw water; emptying all trash receptacles and ash trays as needed; repairing and/or replace broken, plugged and/or inoperable water lines, sprinkler valves, sprinklers, drip lines, and emitters to ensure systems are working properly; and controlling irrigation watering using hand held computer, pc computer and/or stand-alone controllers.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment and techniques; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid Driver's License.
    Incumbent is required to work standby/call back.
    Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
