Under immediate supervision, incumbents perform duties below the journey level while receiving training for
advancement to an entry-level professional health/human services class. This class may be used for entry into
Child Care Facilities Surveyor, Health Facilities Inspector, Developmental Specialist, Health Program
Specialist, Psychiatric Caseworker, Quality Assurance Specialist, Social Worker, or other professional
health/human services series from the Medical, Health & Related Services or Social Services & Rehabilitation
Occupational Groups, in any department of State government.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Nevada Early Intervention Services, and will be located in Reno, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This is an underfill for a Developmental Specialist 3 position. The incumbent will be automatically progressed to the next level in the class series upon meeting the minimum qualifications and with appointing authority approval.
The Health/Human Services Professional Trainee works directly under the supervision and direction of a Developmental Specialist to learn the essential job functions of a Developmental Specialist in Nevada Early Intervention Services. This position receives on the job training for advancement to a Developmental Specialist I and is responsible for assisting with special instruction and service coordination for children with disabilities under the age of three residing in Washoe County under the direction of a Developmental Specialist III. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, early childhood development, psychology, public health, special education, nursing, or other discipline directly related to the field in which the applicant is to be trained; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained. (NOTE: some jobs strictly require a bachelor's degree). |
