The Position
Tax Program Supervisors plan, organize, direct and administer tax and fee collection activities as well as tax compliance programs in an assigned agency; oversee taxpayer assistance and education activities performed by subordinate staff; and oversee revenue and taxpayer accounting functions.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a Tax Program Supervisor for the Department of Taxation located in Carson City, NV. This position performs specialized duties for the Marijuana Program. The incumbent will be responsible for the tax and fee collection, monitoring, compliance and enforcement of the Marijuana Program. This person will oversee revenue accounting and deposit activities, the registration of new marijuana establishments and delinquent taxpayer accounts. The incumbent will direct subordinate staff in the detection and investigation of unregistered marijuana establishments operating illegally within the State. This position will supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff. The incumbent will assist in policy development and interpretation of statute provisions and will recommend and implement policies. The selected applicant must be willing to travel up to 50% of the time for this position and be available for standby/call back when needed.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of professional revenue collection experience requiring the interpretation and application of statutory provisions and regulations, and/or in the examination of tax returns or other financial reports for legal compliance; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics or related field and one year of professional experience involving tax administration and/or collections and the application of tax statutory provisions and regulations; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
TAX PROGRAM SUPERVISOR 1 (07.244) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question.
