Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Department of Public Safety has an opening for an Administrative Assistant IV at the Division of General Services, located in Carson City, Nevada. This position will be with the Sex Offender Registry Program (SOR)
The selected candidate will be responsible for researching criminal history records; review of graphic, violent and explicit reports contained in the Sex Offender case files as well as communicating with sex offenders in a professional manner; interpreting and applying Federal and State laws for sex offender registration; community notification; maintaining a case load which includes sex offender registration and verification; correspondence with multiple criminal justice agencies Nationwide using multiple programs; and compiling/tracking statistics using Microsoft Excel. The incumbent will be partnering with Law Enforcement in the protection of the public. In-state and out-of-state travel may be required for courtroom testimony. The position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within six months of employment and recertification every two years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Division.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will not be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Travel up to 25%.
