Under general direction, the Equipment Superintendent plans, organizes and directs the staff and activities of
the Equipment Division of the Department of Transportation and directs division staff engaged in procuring
rental and non-rental equipment, vehicles, maintenance and construction materials, supplies, communications
equipment for the agency, Urban Mass Transportation Act equipment, and fuel for use by State agencies. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located in the Equipment Division in Sparks. Incumbent is responsible for administering the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) motor pool and fleet program; planning and administering the Equipment Division budget; creating and writing equipment specifications; ordering equipment through State Purchasing Division; documenting equipment usage; supervising the Equipment Division audit section to establish rental rates, assuring accurate billing requests and reports; overseeing work completed in the northern sign shop to ensure compliance with MUTCD; setting policy and procedures for all shops and stockrooms throughout the State; and supervising District II equipment shop and stockrooms.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, business administration or closely related field and three years of highway construction and maintenance equipment procurement and fleet management experience which included responsibilities for establishing program goals and objectives, policy development and administration, and supervision of professional staff; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
