Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is in the Administrative Services Division of the Department of Motor Vehicles in Carson City. Responsibilities include but are not limited to working with DMV Administration on the daily monitoring and tracking of expenditures and revenues for assigned budget accounts, building the Department's biennial budget, preparation of justifications for budget requests, ensuring the Department's compliance with regulations, directives, and policies relevant to budget, and acting as liaison between DMV and other State Agencies including the Executive Budget Office and Legislative Council Bureau on all Department budget matters.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
