The Position
DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action. This position, located in our Winnemucca office assigned to our Field Services Division. The DMV Services Supervisor 1 provides technical expertise to customers and staff through interpretation and application of complex Federal and State laws, rules and regulations, agency policies and procedures involving licensing and registration. The incumbent functions as a first-line supervisor in training, supervising and evaluating the performance of assigned staff, assigning and reviewing work, and initiating disciplinary action. Additionally, the DMV Services Supervisor 1 will review and determine validity of documents, assess applicant's ability to receive driving privileges, communicate with the public to explain policies and procedures and resolve sensitive and complex customer complaints. As a key member of the management team, the Supervisor 1 must demonstrate teamwork, and through collaboration with fellow supervisors exemplify our dedication to staff moral and employee development.
The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation. This position requires all DMV employees involved in registering voters must disclose information regarding previous and current felony convictions of theft and/or fraud. NRS 293.504 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles as a voter registration agency. NRS 293.5045 states, a voter registration agency shall not knowingly employ a person whose duties will include the registration of voters if the person has been convicted of a felony involving theft or fraud. Federal Regulation 49CFR 384.228 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles, Field Services Division, as a CDL testing program and shall not employ a person with any felony conviction within the last 10 years or convictions of any fraudulent activities. DMV also requires an online a pre-employment criminal history check. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of varied and increasingly responsible experience related to registration/titling of motor vehicles or licensing motor vehicle operators, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician IV; OR two years of experience equivalent to a DMV Services Technician III.
Special Notes
    In accordance with NRS 293.5045, the Department of Motor Vehicles, as a voter registration agency, shall not knowingly employ an individual in this class series who has been convicted of a felony involving theft and/or fraud.
    The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation.
    In accordance with 49 CFR 384.228, the Department of Motor Vehicles is required to conduct a national background check on any employee that administers Commercial Driver License (CDL) knowledge and/or skills testing, and the DMV shall not knowingly employ such a person if they have been convicted of a felony in the last 10 years or have been convicted of any fraudulent activities.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination
DMV SERVICES SUPERVISOR 1 (11.422) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately.
