Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is an Administrative Assistant 3 position within the Department of Agriculture, in Sparks, NV. The incumbent will serve as administrative and clerical support to the Plant Industry Administrator. The incumbent will develop and maintain spreadsheets to collect and maintain statistical and financial data on division operations, prepare correspondence and reports, assist in monitoring budget accounts and recording expenditures, perform accounts receivable functions in creating invoices, receipt, recording customer payments, and preparation of deposits, complete division purchase orders, and review and process employee travel and timesheets. Additionally, the incumbent will work with human resource staff on requesting recruitments, and complete, review and distribute human resource paperwork. The incumbent will supervise an administrative assistant responsible for program clerical support for the Pest Control Licensing Program for Northern Nevada.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
