The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
* * * PLEASE NOTE LOCATION CHANGE * * *
This position is supervised and works with the IT Professional 4 in Carson City on all aspects of information technology. This position works on database administration and provides primary level SQL Server and database administrator support in a complex multi-user, multi-department environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, database monitoring, performance tuning, backup and recovery management, change management, schema design, data migrations, upgrades, and database and operating system scripting in multiple Windows operating systems. This position also provides secondary level backup database administration support for the IT Professional 4 in Carson City. Other responsibilities include providing customer service and ongoing professional development. Software developers and programmers are encouraged to apply.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with Windows Server 2008 or newer, virtualization software, enterprise backups, antivirus, Exchange, Microsoft IIS, SQL Server, Visual Studio and Microsoft Office is required.
