Group Supervisors perform duties involving the education, employment, training, treatment, care and custody of juvenile offenders residing within a State Youth Training Center; maintain comprehensive records of assigned youths' program activities; and provide individual guidance pursuant to State or federal laws and regulations.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for multiple Group Supervisor III positions to be located at the recently renovated SUMMIT VIEW YOUTH CENTER (SVYC), a 48-bed secure facility for male youth age 14 to 18 located in North Las Vegas, NV. SVYC goal is to promote positive self-growth, create change in behavior, attitudes, values and ways of thinking. Under limited supervision, incumbents perform the full range of duties in the series concept and participate as a member of a treatment team by assisting in the formulation and evaluation of a treatment plan and making recommendations on alternative treatment methods. Additionally, Group Supervisor III's coordinate and oversee group and individual treatment sessions; develop session goals, rules and content using prescribed methods; document group and individual treatment and activities; and prepare individual progress summary reports for review by the treatment team, committing judge, parole officer, legal guardian, and institutional staff.
These are full time positions that include a variable work agreement that may be scheduled to work hours and days different than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday such as swing shift and weekends. The State of Nevada and DCFS offer an excellent benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance, participation in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), accrual of 15 days of annual and 15 days of sick leave, 11 paid holidays and no city, county, state or social security tax! DCFS also encourages education by providing on-going trainings and paid release time for staff to obtain CEU's. Some positions may also be eligible for an additional 5% Shift Differential pay.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in psychology, social work, sociology, counseling and guidance, human services, social services, education, criminal justice or closely related field and one year of experience working with youth in a custodial, employment program, therapeutic, educational, recreational program or correctional setting with responsibility for performing vocational assessments, making oral presentations during group sessions and treatment team meetings, and providing vocational and life skills training to juvenile offenders; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience as described above; OR one year as a Group Supervisor II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. |

Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, all positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must first submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. |

A valid driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
