Community Health Nurses provide professional nursing services requiring licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and/or Registered Nurse in clinics, homes, schools and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The position serves as a first-line supervisor to professional nursing and support staff assigned to a community health clinic and its satellite offices including providing work direction, and resolving patient care and staffing issues; assign and review work, evaluate performance, and provide counseling and discipline; and selection and termination of subordinate staff. Incumbents direct and supervise the provision of community health nursing services in Nevada's rural counties including plan, develop and implement nursing goals and objectives; and develop training programs to assist in development of nursing skills. Incumbents assist with the nurse practice of all subordinate staff which promotes effective and efficient quality patient care. Incumbents develop and implement master staffing plans at multiple locations within the constraints of budget and personnel.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse, Bachelor's degree in nursing and two years of professional nursing experience in a public health setting, one year of which includes supervisory/management nursing experience; OR one year of experience as a Community Health Nurse II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education, licensure and experience as described above.
Special Notes
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.
