The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position works within the Department of Administration, in the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records Division (NSLAPR) in Carson City. The incumbent will be responsible for developing plans for electronic records management, including standards and guidelines, based on NRS, NAC, and NSLAPR's goals; and implements training and awareness programs to train employees on managing records retention policy and electronic records policy in accordance with NSLAPR's policies and guidelines. Ideal candidates will be competent in the understanding of records management theory and practice; demonstrate experience consulting with government personnel, appraising records, researching applicable laws and regulations, and drafting records retention schedules; demonstrate expert knowledge of information technology and the requirements for promoting authentic, reliable, and accessible records in an electronic environment; and demonstrate leadership and skills in project management and problem solving. Experience in working with electronic records systems is preferred. A background check is required of the applicant at their own cost.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from an accredited college or university in public administration or related field and two years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program: OR two years experience as a Program Officer II in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and six years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
The Examination

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. 7) Describe your experience, including the number of years, in fiscal management.
