The Position
This class series encompasses positions that perform a broad range of professional and technical work involving but not limited to: cultural/natural resource assessment, programming, funding, evaluation, survey, inventory, preservation, research, education, planning, mitigation and recovery.
This is a Cultural/Natural Recourse Specialist 2 position with the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs located in Carson City - URL http://nvculture.org/nevadaartscouncil/ . Duties include daily administration of the Nevada Touring Initiative (NTI)-Traveling Exhibition Program, art installation of NTI-Traveling Exhibits, Office eXhibition Series (OXS), and Legislature eXibition Series (LXS). The position will require travel throughout the state up to 50% of the time to install and de-install artwork. The position will communicate with exhibit artists about preparing the artwork for installation and scheduling delivery of the artwork and will assist with the Artist Fellowship grant process and panel review. The incumbent must have art/object handling and exhibit installation experience. Those applicants with excellent communication and organizational skills are preferred along with applicants with a strong foundation of technical skills in design, rigging, lighting, construction and preservation of exhibit artwork. A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in studio art, dance, theater, photography, folklife, communications, architecture, English, creative writing or related field and one year of professional level experience which involved general arts administration, management of an arts program, folklore studies, or comparable experience in a public or non-profit setting; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of professional experience relevant to the position which involved working with a non-profit arts or cultural organization, a public arts or cultural agency, or comparable experience in a public or non-profit setting; managing and administrating arts programs and grants; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Cultural/Natural Resource Specialist I in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    Positions in this series may require specialized education and experience which will be identified at the time of recruitment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with art/object handling and exhibit installation is required.
