The Position
Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker II located in the Las Vegas, Nevada area for the Wraparound in Nevada Program. Psychiatric Caseworkers for the Wraparound in Nevada Program monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, monitor day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings. Incumbents initially perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. The positions within the DCFS Wraparound In Nevada (WIN) Program provide intensive care coordination within the statewide Children's Behavioral Health system utilizing the Wraparound Model; DCFS Wraparound Facilitators link families to appropriate resources, facilitate Child and Family Team meetings, and empower families to identify their informal or "natural" supports to participate on the Child and Family Teams; DCFS Wraparound Facilitators also complete Strength, Needs and Cultural Discoveries with youth and families, develop individualized care coordination plans, and collaborate with agencies in the community to serve youth and families.
This is a full time position that includes a variable work agreement with hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime after 40 hours per week. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required and is a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
