Conservation Staff Specialists assist in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures related to areas such as resource management, safety and training, fire management and policy management pertinent to the assigned area of natural resource management, preservation, conservation and protection.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following: tracking, reviewing, and interpreting training requirements common to firefighter, conservation camp, aviation, and resource programs. This position prepares budgets, tracks expenditures, and establishes future safety and training needs to meet the Division's mission. The position requires experience in establishing and interpreting training policies and procedures utilizing National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) and Division policies. Incumbent utilizes and manages the Incident Qualification System (IQS) to track Division personnel for fire training, qualifications, and dispatch status. The position is also responsible for representing the agency at regional interagency training meetings, public education, and in emergency response.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, ecology, natural resource management, forestry, parks management, fire management or related field and three years of journey level professional experience in a relevant resource management field that included assisting in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures; coordinating special grant programs and/or contracts; and/or coordinating training programs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Some positions require specialized skills and experience in grant management, policy development, equipment and property management, fire and/or resource management, or other natural resource field and will be identified at the time of recruitment. |

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
