The Position
Traffic Center Technicians are located within District Traffic Operations Centers; operate in a 24/7 environment and facilitate the exchange of information required to maintain the safe and reliable operation of the state roadways while providing information to travelers; operate, control and conduct routine tests of traffic software, signs, and devices; record and track data; prepare reports; communicate with road crews to obtain and provide information.
This position is located within District III, Elko. Incumbent is responsible for supervision of the Traffic Operations Center (TOC), to include assisting in the development and implementation of NDOT Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) and administering operating policies. Duties include communicating with crews by radio, phone, and email to obtain and provide road information; deploying personnel in response to highway incidents; notifying outside agency dispatchers of incidents; responding to high volume radio, telephone, and telecommunication traffic; operating control and traffic software, signs, closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) and Intelligent Traffic System devices; performing regular system diagnostics, facilitating system troubleshooting; identifying system failures; and coordinating system repair when necessary.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of traffic center experience which included monitoring and facilitating traffic flow, developing responses to problems based on established guidelines, developing regular reports, and dispatching appropriate personnel to incidents, one year of which included leadworker experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR two years of experience as a Traffic Center Technician II in Nevada State service.

    Positions require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

The Examination
Traffic Center Technician Supervisor
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately.
