The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Rural Clinics is looking for a Mental Health Counselor III in Humboldt County, NV. This position will oversee two outpatient behavioral clinics in Winnemucca and Lovelock. Some of the duties include managing multifaceted program components and activities; allocating staff resources; ensuring compliance with applicable laws, licensure and funding requirements; implementing admission and discharge criteria; monitoring and evaluating service delivery and fiscal performance; coordinating program services with courts, law enforcement, school districts, universities, other state and governmental agencies, community groups; supervising professional, technical and clerical staff; conducting clinical team meetings; providing staff trainings; and providing individual, family and group counseling and consultative services. This is a perfect opportunity to grow as a supervisor, manager, and clinician.
Rural Clinics is comprised of 16 outpatient behavioral health outpatient clinics located throughout rural Nevada. We provide a continuum rehabilitative services (e.g., targeted case management, basic skills training, psychosocial rehabilitation, therapy, testing, jail diversion, and children's programs, crisis intervention) to both children and adults. We operate in close partnership with multiple private and public programs and agencies. Travel up to 25% of the time may be required. Winnemucca is located in Humboldt County with a population of about 16,000. The community offers most of the amenities you would find in a much larger community. Winnemucca is located on Interstate 80 and allows travel to larger communities such as Sacramento, Reno, Elko, and Salt Lake.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and three years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.

Licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor issued by the appropriate licensing or certification authority is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
