JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This Staff Engineer II position is multifaceted and will support the Bureau of Corrective Actions, Superfund Branch in a broad variety of geological and geotechnical engineering practices and principles. The incumbent will perform engineering-related assignments that include providing geological and geotechnical recommendations, analysis, and design review associated with casework. The person in this position will be expected to support large scale, complex environmental assessment and remedial activities throughout the state from a technical support and compliance perspective. Therefore, the person in this position must be familiar with State and CERCLA related assessment and remediation requirements; and will be required to interface collaboratively with responsible parties, the regulated community, other government agencies, Nevada Tribal Governments and NDEP management to ensure timely and effective planning and implementation of investigation work.
This position may entail working a non-traditional schedule and traveling to rural areas within the State. The person in this position may be required to participation in a medical monitoring program. This position will also be expected to participate in other Branch/Bureau activities such as the Carson River Mercury Superfund Site project management, the Leviathan Mine project management, and other CERCLA-related project investigations and evaluations.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The Examination
