The Position
Mental Health Counselors provide counseling, case management, direct clinical services, community and home based services, and behavioral and human services to mentally ill, developmentally disabled and/or emotionally disturbed clients in an outpatient, residential, community or similar setting.
DCFS is recruiting for a Mental Health Counselor 2 to be located with the Mobile Crisis team in Las Vegas, NV. This recruitment is for clinicians for Early Childhood Mental Health Services and Adolescent Mobile Crisis Response Team in Leas Vegas, NV. Early Childhood Mental Health Services provides clinical and case management series to children ages to birth to 8 and their families with mental health and/or behavioral health issues. The Mobile Crisis Response Team triages calls from the community, responds in teams to children and adolescents in acute psychiatric and behavioral crisis in the community. Responses can take place in emergency departments, schools, home and other community settings. Teams can remain in place for up to 30 days to provide intensive clinical and case management services to these youth and families. This position will be the clinical lead on the response and stabilization team. Early Childhood Mental Health Services provides services in home and in office, Monday through Friday. The Mobile Crisis team will provide services during the daytime, evening and weekend hours across a variety of shifts. This recruitment is for all the shifts that Early Childhood Mental Health Services and the Mobile Crisis response team covers.
This is a full time position with a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff committed to building strong communities through strengthening families.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master's degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a master's degree and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    Some positions require specialized training and experience working with specific client populations.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Licensure or certification as a Mental Health Counselor, Certified Counselor, Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor issued by the appropriate licensing or certification authority is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Moderate travel is required.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
