Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is a Grounds Maintenance Worker 5 position located in Carson City. This position performs Grounds Maintenance duties in and around the Carson City and Reno areas comprised of 179 acres. This includes maintenance of grounds including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, pest control and sprinkler repair and maintenance. This position also assists in set ups of special events and completes moving requests for state agencies. Snow and ice removal is mandatory. Buildings and Grounds is a 24 hour section. Applicants must be able and willing to work with inmates.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Three years of grounds maintenance experience, one year of which was installing, maintaining and repairing irrigation systems and related equipment; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
