The Position
Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services - Sierra Regional Center, and will be located in Sparks, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. The incumbent will be responsible for Accounts Payable duties. Duties will include the following: check invoices for accuracy; ensure all documents are coded appropriately; input payments in IFS in accordance with agency and state policy; resolve discrepancies; process agreements and invoices and authorizations for Jobs and Day Training (JDT); review JDT Authorizations for accuracy; prepare monthly billing and assure the accuracy of dates and services billed; input authorizations as approved by Community Supervisors or designee; input invoices as received by providers; run Crystal Reports to make sure that what was billed is what is shown owing; develop reports with minimal supervision and be responsible for distribution of reports to providers Community Services and Management; maintain various types of contracts that must be monitored to ensure that conditions of the contract are followed; and maintain log sheets to include vendor name, address, contract number, all contract coding, contract dates, declining balances and voucher number. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical accounting experience which must have included duties such as coding documents to distribute funds; preparing accounts payable and accounts receivable documents; using computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; balancing accounts; and identifying and applying established financial recordkeeping procedures; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
