Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This position is located at Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services and will be used to underfill a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 position. The Psychiatric Caseworker will assist the Social Services Department on the inpatient unit by performing casework duties, conducting need assessments, developing treatment planning, providing psycho-education, collaborating with all levels of service, community partners and other agencies; and assist social workers in coordinating discharge planning in order to meet patients' emotional, behavioral, social, financial, health, vocational, transportation, and basic living needs. This position will work primarily with the Clinical Social Workers in Dini-Townsend hospital to develop and implement discharge plans.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and one year of experience assisting professionals in providing direct client care and implementing treatment and/or service/care coordination plans for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. |

Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required and is a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting. |
