Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Desert Regional Center (DRC), and will be located in Las Vegas, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible.
This vacancy for a Psychiatric Nurse (PN) II is located at Desert Regional Center at the 24 Hour ICF/ID Campus Facility. This is a very rewarding and specialized field of nursing working with extremely challenging individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Mental Illness and closely related conditions. The PN II is responsible for the medical coordination of care, by evaluating, assessing and personalizing each individual's physical, psychological, and health condition, thereby developing Individual Support Plans which are delivered by an Interdisciplinary Team approach. The PN II administers treatments and medications per physicians' orders and must make assessments, choices, determinations and judgments in all aspects of their work. This position provides oversight to LPN's assigned to their homes and shifts. Must establish and maintain a good rapport and working relationships to foster intra and interdepartmental communications necessary for the delivery of quality care. The PN II will follow NRS/NAC 632, Nursing rules and regulations as well as DHHS, ADSD, DRC policies and procedures and Medicaid and CMS regulations for ICF/ID facilities.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A Bachelor's degree in nursing is equivalent to a diploma or Associate's degree in nursing and one year of experience.

CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. |
