Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is looking for an Accounting Assistant 3. This position is the Department of Public Safety's Timekeeper. We are looking for an applicant who has significant organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail and will be required to back up the Management Analyst 1. This position audits, reviews, and corrects timesheets and pay for the department of approximately 1300 employees. This position works closely with the DPS divisional timekeepers, individually with employees and supervisors, as well as Central Payroll. This position will be presenting and teaching other employees how to fill time cards out properly. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, manipulate and report data; researching and interpreting financial data to prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
