Security Officers provide security for State buildings and occupants, enforce laws and apprehend offenders.
Work is performed at the Nevada State Museum and off-site facilities in Carson City and northern Douglas County. The museum is an agency of the Division of Museums and History, Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. The work schedule is Friday 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The position provides security for on-site and off-site facilities, collections, property, personnel, and public during business hours and after hours; conducts interior and exterior patrols of buildings and grounds; monitors and maintains video surveillance and alarm systems; and responds and reports security problems twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week as scheduled. The incumbent will also assist building evacuation during alarm activation and secures facilities at closing, provides security training and assists development of emergency response plans, policies, and procedures, and conducts visitor fee collection, customer service, audio tour rentals, and data collection during business hours and special events. Additionally, this position will refer public inquiries and clients to appropriate staff, assist volunteers, will occasionally work outside to perform snow removal and other duties in adverse weather conditions during day and night, and will occasionally work in emergency and stressful situations. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience in public contact work which included applying and implementing rules, regulations or established policies. |

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
|
Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
|
|
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process. |
