Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

This position is located in Carson City within the Administrative Services Division, Over-Dimensional Vehicle Permits Section. Under the direction of the Section Manager incumbent will provide program level expertise in the processing, routing, and issuance of permits; evaluate each permit according to existing infrastructure capabilities and load specifications; gather data from multiple sources to maintain on-hand, up-to-date information for safe routing of loads on all state roads and highways; determine appropriate requirements for route surveys, pilot cars, load lighting, highway patrol escorts, insurance, and other load-specific requirements; and evaluate exception requests according to traffic volumes, lane widths, special events, holidays, etc. Duties will also require incumbent to coordinate with cities and counties when routing loads through streets in their jurisdiction and interact with the trucking industry/public to resolve any complaints or issues. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. |

This position requires work experience evaluating permit applications and issuing permits. |
