The Position
Auditors conduct audits on accounts, records, activities, operations and/or internal controls of individuals, business organizations, State agencies or other government jurisdictions subject to State taxation or regulation to ensure compliance with State and federal rules and regulations and legal requirements and/or proper safeguarding of agency funds.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Working under the general direction of the Auditor III; conduct audits (Managed Audit, Limited Audit, Full Audit) on accounts and records of businesses for compliance with Nevada Unclaimed Property statutes and regulations and engage in outreach to businesses to educate and ensure compliance with NRS 120A and NAC 120A, inform businesses of Nevada's Unclaimed Property laws and educate businesses on how to become compliant, identify businesses in probable non-compliance for future audits or compliance efforts, research possible non-compliant businesses and if applicable offer voluntary disclosure agreements, monitor businesses for continued compliance with voluntary disclosure agreements, coordinate with other staff to impose penalties and interest when applicable, conduct workshops on Nevada Unclaimed Property laws. Administrative and Clerical Skills Required: Ten Key by Touch, Typing at 45+ WPM, Computer Skills Required: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word Lifting and Moving: Must be able to lift file boxes with accounting documentation. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Work environment will consist of working in various office locations with a different volume of noise, weather, and temperatures. Travel to various locations for audits and outreach up to 25%.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which included 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing, and one year of professional level auditing or accounting experience involving analyzing financial information and making recommendations based upon that analysis; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education, supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing and three years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as an Auditor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above, which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting and/or auditing.

    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
