The Position
Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division, Desktop Support Unit, and is located in Las Vegas, NV. This recruitment will be used to fill multiple vacancies within the Desktop Support Unit. IT Technician 6s' are responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining desktop PCs, laptops, PDA phones, mobile hand held devices, servers, network equipment, and peripherals across the entire state of Nevada. Incumbents are also responsible for monitoring the network and assisting with Help Desk user support and server operations. Extensive travel is likely when remote control tools or phone calls won't solve the problem. This position has a 50% travel requirement.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of IT work experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of network workstation hardware and software; OR one year of experience as an IT Technician V in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position requires certification in NCJIS/NCIC within 6 months of employment and recertification every 2 years for continued employment. Certification will be conducted by the Division.
Special Requirements
    This position is subject to call-out or call-back.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working evenings, weekends and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience assisting on-site and off-site staff (using remote control software) in troubleshooting, repairing, upgrading, configuring, and installing computer software and hardware in an Enterprise environment.
    This position requires experience with Antivirus & Firewall software.
    This position requires experience with Help Desk ticketing software.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
