The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
Bureau of Air Quality Planning is recruiting for an Environmental Scientist I which will underfill an Environmental Specialist III, within the Ambient Air Quality Monitoring section of the Bureau. Utilizing a basic working knowledge of air quality and how it relates to air quality planning and air pollution control, the incumbent will establish ambient air sampling sites; procure, operate, and maintain related equipment and instrumentation, as well as complete supporting written documentation, and develop and implement quality assurance and quality check procedures. Auto progression will occur upon meeting minimum qualifications, performance and at the approval of the appointing authority.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree in the physical or life sciences, engineering or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
