The Position
Cartographic/Graphics Technician's produce maps which are geographic representations facilitating a special understanding of objects, concepts, conditions, processes or events in the world; provide illustrations for publications, presentations and grant applications/reports; and create manual covers, forms, charts, graphs and materials.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Carson City, within the Multimedia section. Incumbent is responsible for the creation of publications, reports, forms, fliers, brochures, newsletters, photo manipulation and simulations, electronic presentations, design, printing and mounting of displays, signage, and special maps. This position will require a working knowledge of Apple computers and the Apple operating system; experience with Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school and four years of related experience, three of which included performing cartography work and experience in one or more of the following: computer-based desktop publishing, graphic arts, mapping or drafting; OR one year of experience as a Cartographic/Graphics Technician II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    An Associate of Applied Science degree in computer graphics, multimedia, geography, geology or closely related field may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    This position requires experience with Apple computers and the Apple operating system.
    This position requires experience with Adobe InDesign.
    This position requires experience with Adobe Illustrator.
