The Position
Statisticians gather statistical and other data and perform routine analysis and computations; compile reports and prepare charts, graphs, maps and diagrams to display the data and analysis.

As a member of the Data Team for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), the Statistician II evaluates and fulfills requests for data and ad hoc reports, analyzes statistics, writes report specifications, identifies trends, and presents findings. The DCFS Data Team supports all units within the division: Child Welfare Services, Juvenile Justice Services, Children's Mental Health Services, and Administrative and Support Services. The Statistician II evaluates the data request, collaborates with the person who requested the data, and determines the best course of action. For reports requiring programming, the Statistician II writes clear and concise report specifications to be used by the developers to create the reports. This position provides data to internal and external entities and completes ad hoc data requests by running appropriate reports or by creating queries. The Statistician II is an excellent communicator (demonstrating strong listening, questioning, and interpersonal skills) and effectively expresses ideas and information both verbally and in writing.
This position is full-time with a regular work schedule that includes a variable work agreement with overtime after 40 hours per week. The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS), together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff committed to building strong communities through strengthening families.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience assisting in the preparation, collection and analysis of data; OR one year of experience as a Statistician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
