The Position
Budget Analysts prepare and implement budgets including the development of expenditure projections, narrative justification of programs, and detailed biennial spending plans; review and analyze budget requests and adjustments; and ensure compliance with budgetary directives, policies, regulations and limitations.
The Public Safety Budget Analyst works in the Director's Office reporting to the Administrative Services Officer IV (ASO). This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing and approval of all division's work programs and budgets for submission to the ASO IV for final approval at the department level. The Budget Analyst will have responsibility for multiple divisions and diverse programs that are funded with Highway, general, federal, grants, fees, as well as cost allocated budgets. The Budget Analyst will also provide oversight to assigned budget accounts to ensure compliance with authorization limits and budgetary requirements. The Budget Analyst will provide expertise and fiscal guidance as well as monitoring budget projections and optimization of limited resources to achieve budget objectives. DPS Budget Analysts are also required to build and submit budgets for those divisions without fiscal staff. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or closely related field and three years of professional budgeting, accounting, economic or management analysis and projection, staff analyst or auditing experience, one year of which was equivalent to a Budget Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
    This position requires a pre-employment background investigation as a condition of employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
