Rehabilitation Counselors manage a caseload budget; determine eligibility or ineligibility; assess rehabilitation needs; develop individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinate the delivery of services; and provide counseling and advocacy services for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
This recruitment is for multiple Rehabilitation Counselor 1 vacancies located in Carson City, Reno, Las Vegas and Rural communities. The Rehabilitation Counselor 1 manages a caseload budget; determines eligibility or ineligibility; assesses rehabilitation needs; develops individualized plans for employment (IPE); coordinates the delivery of services; and provides counseling and advocacy services for individuals whose mental or physical disability presents a barrier to employment and/or self-sufficiency. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor provides services to our clients to help them return to employment. This includes gathering intake information and medical documentation to determine eligibility. The counselor may collaborate with medical professionals, training specialists, JobConnect and other vendors to assist the client in returning to work.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling or health, social or other related behavioral science; OR a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling or health, social or other related behavioral science and one year of professional experience serving people with disabilities; OR a Bachelor's degree as described above and two years of technical or paraprofessional experience serving people with disabilities; OR a Bachelor's degree as described above and two years of experience as a Rehabilitation Technician II in Nevada State service; OR a Bachelor's degree as described above and one year as a Rehabilitation Instructor I or Vocational Evaluator I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience at or above a Bachelor's degree as described above.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for fingerprinting.
