Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The incumbent performs inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment with a focus on improving the energy efficiency of equipment. Incumbent uses data logging equipment to monitor specific pieces of equipment for energy usage as well as potential future energy conservation measures. Applicants must have experience with Building Automation Systems, must be able to understand system readouts, trend logs, and make changes if necessary to bring the system set points in line with NDOC energy goals and objectives. Must have the ability to recognize and identify opportunities for potential new energy projects and report the opportunities to the Energy Manager.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
