Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy, Managed Care and Quality Unit. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the Quality Assurance programs and policies for the Behavioral Health Community Networks and additional quality assurance activities. The incumbent will be required to research and make recommendations of best practice standards, analyze health data statistics, and develop improvement strategies and corrective action plans. The duties of this position require extensive use and knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook. This position also requires good communication skills (both written and verbal), excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks. This position is located in Carson City, with occasional travel required.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing social services to clients or program development and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and one year of professional experience providing medical assistance programs services or healthcare services to clients or program compliance and evaluation which required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Experience
Experience in quality assurance which required the application of state and/or federal laws, policy and procedure, or guidelines in making compliance determinations.
Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
