Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE).
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

Administrative Assistant III's in the Warrant Unit must possess basic computer and Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Word. Data entry and 10-key skills will be utilized heavily. Incumbent will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills (reading and writing) and be able to comprehend policies and procedures and execute them. This position requires the ability to pay close attention to detail, work at tasks for lengthy periods of time, and be able to efficiently multi-task. This position requires NCIC/NCJIS certification within six months of appointment to the position. Training will be conducted on-site. In addition, this is a non-standard position in a 24/7 environment in which the incumbent would be required to work any shift, nights, weekends and holidays. In addition, this position is located in Elko, NV. Telephone interviews are not conducted for this position.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

CLERICAL SUPPORT EXAM
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
