The Position
DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in our Reno DMV Office within the Compliance Enforcement Division, Occupational and Business Licensing Section. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Incumbents spend a majority of the time directly assisting customers at a counter or window, and perform a variety of complex business transactions associated with the Licensing of Nevada businesses and Occupational Licensees. The DMV Technician 3 is responsible for ensuring compliance with State and federal laws, regulations and agency policies and procedures involving the licensing, withdrawal of licenses, and the licensing of certain operations and representatives of the automotive industry. This position authorizes actions that impact business privileges, determines new and continuing privilege eligibility. Incumbent retrieves and decipher information from NCIC, CJIS, and NLETS to determine registration, title, driver's license and criminal history information. Position will be responsible for conducting fingerprints, performing background checks, and issuance of licensing supplies. When necessary the position assists with the processing of driver licenses and vehicle registrations.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of experience which included public and/or customer contact including explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures, one year of which was equivalent to a DMV Services Technician II processing various types of documents including titling, special plates, insurance verification, registration and driver's license renewal by mail, license review and/or financial responsibility; OR one year of experience as a DMV Services Technician II in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
    The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
