JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the NDOC Southern Region's vehicle fleet service, repairs, and disposition. This position supervises an Equipment Mechanic II, and a crew of inmates in a prison environment which services and repairs vehicle fleet ranging from golf carts, cars, vans, trucks, to heavy equipment.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience; OR one year of experience as Equipment Mechanic II in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
