The Position
Tax Program Supervisors plan, organize, direct and administer tax and fee collection activities as well as tax compliance programs in an assigned agency; oversee taxpayer assistance and education activities performed by subordinate staff; and oversee revenue and taxpayer accounting functions.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This Tax Program Supervisor 2 works within the Department of Taxation, located in Carson City, NV. This position is responsible for the supervision of a variety of positions which can include: Revenue Officers, Tax Examiners, Accounting Assistants, and Administrative Aids. Supervisory duties include selection, training, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, as well as taking appropriate disciplinary actions. Other duties include preparing staff for hearings, lock and seals, etc. and backing-up the Tax Program Supervisor 3. The position requires public speaking and report writing.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of tax or revenue collection experience requiring the interpretation and application of statutory provisions and regulations, and/or in the examination of tax returns or other financial reports for legal compliance, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, economics or related field and two years of professional experience involving tax administration and/or collections and the interpretation of tax statutory provisions and regulations, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; OR one year of experience as a Tax Program Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    This position has a 25% Travel Requirement.

    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination

TAX PROGRAM SUPERVISOR 2 (07.238) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.
