The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur

Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located at the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation in the Bureau of Disability Adjudication. The position will be in Carson City or Las Vegas, depending on the applicant pool. The incumbent will work directly with medical consultant vendors, bureau staff, local medical community resources, various medical-oriented boards and professional organizations to recruit and maintain medical panel members to provide medical examinations as needed for applicants of the Bureau. The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing medical reports from established medical vendors for appropriateness and completeness; providing feedback to vendors regarding timeliness and content; conducting regular reviews of medical panelists to assure they are in compliance with policy and practices for examinations, testing, reporting and licensing requirements; establishing vendor scheduling calendars based on panelist requests and/or special needs; investigating complaints of vendor panelists in accordance with policies and procedures; and completing regular reviews and maintenance of Bureau vendor files. The incumbent updates, revises, and addresses discrepancies within vendor files with panel members. This position also conducts applicant surveys for customer service outcomes for medical vendor panelists and conducts site visits according to policy requirements; provides outreach and education to the community, including clinics, hospitals, physicians, psychologists and schools regarding specific needs for medical evidence in regard to disability claims; and works to develop effective responses to requests for evidence with decreased processing times, which includes encouraging the submission of electronic medical records. Special Requirements: Applicants for this position are subject to a favorable passing of federal background check in accordance with HSPD-12 requirements as a condition of employment.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field and one year of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR one year experience as a Program Officer I in Nevada State service; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and five years of previous experience in planning, coordinating or administering a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. A) handling customer complaints; B) serving on an advisory committee, task force, and/or panel with responsibility to hear and resolve conflicts; C) managing staff/employee issues.
