Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services is currently recruiting for a vacancy in our Child Care Program located in Central Office. The incumbent will develop and revise program documentation; extract data from multiple sources, compile statistics, and provide analysis; research and answer policy questions; analyze and draft comments on existing or proposed regulations related to the Child Care and Development Program; and assist in the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and the preparation of contracts and grants in accordance with established procedures. They will also meet periodically with contractors to discuss contract, billing, and or program issues and evaluate contractor effectiveness; ensure contractors adhere to Federal, State, and program regulations, policies, and procedures; provide data system support for field staff in accessing, updating, and troubleshooting cases in the Nevada Child Care System; represent the program, Division, Department, and/or State at professional meetings, public hearing conferences, and workshops; and establish and maintain effective professional relationships with local, State, and Federal agencies, citizen groups, and the general public by attending meetings and openly sharing ideas and information. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of professional social services, medical assistance programs services, or healthcare services experience which included serving as a consultant to professional/supervisory program personnel; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex documents such as federal regulations, technical journals, and legislative studies; writing program policies, procedures, and reports; and conducting research and preparing recommendations for management; OR one year of experience as a Social Services Program Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. |
