The Position
Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located within District I, Las Vegas. Incumbent will work on a lighting crew and will function as a lead worker and as crew supervisor in the absence of a supervisor. Duties include operating and handling small power tools and equipment such as lowering devices for high mast lights, volt meter, amp meter, conduit bending and cutting tools, saw, etc; make skilled or semi-skilled modifications to district light facilities; estimate all direct costs for project materials and supplies; prepare work orders, requisition supplies, prepare specifications, read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical code blueprints, schematic diagrams in order to determine the configuration of electric systems; and respond to emergencies. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment.
    A Class A Commercial Driver's License, with appropriate endorsements will be required within six months of employment.
    The incumbent of this position will be required to work over 6 feet from the ground.
    The incumbent of this position will be required to work occasionally in cramped and confined spaces.
