Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The LPN-III is assigned to the Northern Nevada Correctional Center and manages the Regional Medical Facility's (RMF) Clinic Pill Room. The selected candidate will be responsible for supervising 6-8 Licensed Practical Nurses. As the Pill Room Supervisor the candidate will oversee, medication ordering and distribution to outpatient inmates and be responsible for all operations concerning the Pill Room. The candidate will be responsible to provide orientation to his/her staff, conduct employee appraisals, manage employee scheduling, and approve time sheets. The Pill Room Supervisor is under direct supervision of the RMF Clinic Supervisor
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and three years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, two years of which were providing nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting or to individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities.
Special Notes
Probationary employees working for the Department of Corrections must successfully complete 40 hours of "pre-service" training provided by the department.

A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
