Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to mentally ill and/or mentally and physically ill or disabled individuals, in an institution or outpatient setting.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services - Rural Regional Center in Carson City, NV. ADSD provides an atmosphere of innovative thinking, teamwork, friendly co-workers, and promotes a positive work environment. The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. This position will be responsible for performing site reviews of Medicaid providers, intake duties for new recipients, processing provider billing, and data entry and clerical duties within the office.
This Licensed RN position's primary duties are to provide nursing assessments and consultations for children, adolescents and adults with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, and seizure disorders. The RN also provides education regarding medications and health care issues to Rural Regional Center and direct care provider staff, assists with quality assurance operations, provides reports regarding medical status of persons served at manager/supervisor meetings, and participates in nursing care facility and hospital discharge planning for persons served.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
