The Position
Retail Storekeepers perform merchandising and inventory control duties to maximize profits in a retail store or e-Commerce environment which includes canteen stores and coffee shops in correctional facilities and other State retail operations.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. OR Incumbents perform basic tasks or elements of the job not requiring the additional knowledge, skills and abilities to perform at the next level in the series.
Retail Storekeeper I works under the guidance of the Lead Storekeeper III and reports directly to the Retail Storekeeper IV, the supervisor of the region. They are responsible for inputting inmate orders through the Scantron or Inmate Kiosk system and printing out the receipts and lists of authorized purchases; distribute inmate orders though a secure window or deliver merchandise to custody for bag delivery. They are required to verify inmate's identity against their ID and the receipt for pick up and check each item against the inmate's receipt to ensure they get their appropriate order and then obtain the inmate's signature for confirmation of receiving merchandise. They are responsible for maintaining store security such as supervising inmate workers, examining all trash before discarding or leaving the store, ensuring all tools are locked up an accounted for. Retail Storekeeper I's are also to assist the Lead Storekeepers with purchasing of product from vendors and checking it in upon receiving. This includes inventory control such as doing cycle counts and monitoring inventory rotation.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    One year of storekeeping or retail experience which included stocking, sales and/or customer service.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    Applicants may be required to work weekends, holidays and/or special events.
The Examination
RETAIL STOREKEEPER I (07.821) Written Exam
The exam will consist of a written weighted 100%.
