The Position
DMV Services Technicians provide customer services associated with driver's license, vehicle, and business occupational licensing programs including licensing drivers; issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing occupational business licenses; and processing reinstatements.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
Position is located in Mesquite within our DMV Field Services Division and is dedicated to customer service and the delivery of DMV programs to the community. The services provided by DMV Services Technicians include licensing drivers, voter registration, issuing identification cards; registering and titling vehicles; issuing business occupational licenses, and processing reinstatements. **** THIS RECRUITMENT REQUIRES A TYPING CERTIFICATE. PLEASE ATTACH YOUR TYPING CERTIFICATE TO YOUR APPLICATION OR YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. PLEASE READ ANNOUNCEMENT. MANDATORY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A typing certificate (issued within the last 6 months) must accompany your application and must verify your net typing speed of at least 30 words per minute in a five (5) minute test. NO SELF- ADMINISTERED or ON-LINE TYPING TEST/CERTIFICATE WILL BE ACCEPTED. The typing certificate may be attained through any Nevada Job Connect office, Community College, Manpower office or other staffing agencies (to give examples). This certificate must have the Company Name, Phone Number, Date and Signature of Test Administrator. This position requires all DMV employees involved in registering voters must disclose information regarding previous and current felony convictions of theft and/or fraud. Federal Regulation 49 CFR 384.228 identifies the Department of Motor Vehicles, Field Services Division, as a CDL testing program and shall not employ a person with any felony conviction within the last 10 years or convictions of any fraudulent activities. DMV is also requiring an online a pre-employment criminal history check. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience which included public and/or customer contact including explaining rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Special Notes
    Applicants must meet the minimum typing speed of 30 words per minute at the time of recruitment.
    In accordance with NRS 293.5045, the Department of Motor Vehicles, as a voter registration agency, shall not knowingly employ an individual in this class series who has been convicted of a felony involving theft and/or fraud.
    The Department of Motor Vehicles is required to comply with 49 CFR 1572.103 which provides that an agency involved in the issuance of Real ID Driver's Licenses shall not knowingly employ a person if they have been convicted of any of the felonies listed under this regulation.
    In accordance with 49 CFR 384.228, the Department of Motor Vehicles is required to conduct a national background check on any employee that administers Commercial Driver License (CDL) knowledge and/or skills testing, and the DMV shall not knowingly employ such a person if they have been convicted of a felony in the last 10 years or have been convicted of any fraudulent activities.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
    Must be able to type a minimum of 30 words per minute. A typing certificate (issued within the last six (6) months) must accompany the application. Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation with no felony convictions of theft and/or fraud.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
